Quote for the Day

"Look, coal is the fuel of the industrial revolution 250 years ago. It’s all over. There’s the Prime Minister walking around with a lump of coal. Coal is a fossil. The Prime Minister is a fossil himself, a fossil with a baseball cap, but a fossil."

Former Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating, talking of current Prime Minister Scott Morrison and the Liberal Party proposals for new coal power stations and the export of coal.

Further comment by Keating, showing that he hasn’t lost the cut and thrust of the Keating of old:

"The idea, only the Liberal Party could up, going back to Stevenson and 1750 and wanting to build new coal-fired power stations. I mean, they’re just living in the past. They’re policy dead beats. Absolute policy dead beats."
